Itinerary:
Day one - Dehradun to Sankri (8 hours, 210 kilometres).
As you take your first breath in the refreshing Dehradun, our representative will meet you and escort you to a hotel to freshen up. After a brief acquaintance period, you will start on a ride to Sankri by a pre-arranged vehicle. Sankri resides in Uttarkashi District of Uttarakhand State and is a beautiful scenic village.
On your way, you will pass through the Govind National Park which is spread over the area of 953 square kilometres. It is the most beautiful park in the Garhwal region. Passing through the bumpy interiors of this forest for 22 final kilometres is a pleasure to the eyes. On your arrival to Sankri by evening, you will be checked into a guest house where you will reside overnight.
Day two - Exploring the Gorgeous Sankri and trekking to Juda Talab.
You will wake up to the grand views of Sankri this morning. You may use this opportunity to stock up your essentials and head out to explore this gorgeous hamlet. Then, you will begin your first trek towards Juda Talab. Your trail is a gradual ascent until you reach Saud village. You will see a lot of women carrying dried leaves and wood to feed their cattle here. Proceeding past the village will bring you to a steep curve and your trail will take you alongside a stream. The stream is a relaxing sight during your trek and will lead you to a densely populated pine forest which is a steep ascend. After a brief time, you will find an elevation after which your pathway will even out.
You will continue on this wide trail until you reach Juda Talab and set up your tents/camps close to the lake and will be surrounded by mountain slopes and tall green trees.
Day three - Trekking from Juda Talab to the meadow of Kedarkantha (4 hours, 6 kilometres – 2,150 feet).
The sounds of gushing water from the lake will wake you this morning. As you start your trek, trees of pine and oak will walk alongside your trail which will later merge with a lush pine forest after some time. You will soon reach an open field which is below the summit. This location is the main highlight of this trek as the sight of endless greenery and glorious mountain peaks will take your breath away. You will find small shepherd huts in this location. After a brief relaxation period, you will start your climb through the oaks. You will catch sights of snow patches as you get close to Kedar Kanth.
The peaks of Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag, Ranglana will catch your attention and appeal you. As you reach the beautiful meadow at the base of Kedarkantha, you will rest the day in your camps.
Day four - Trekking all the way to Kedarkantha Peak (5-6 hours, 9 kilometres – 1,250 metres) and return to Hargaon Thatch (5 hours, 12 kilometres).
You will set out from Kedarkantha meadow towards Kedarkantha peak early in the morning. The view of sun rising in the sky is a gorgeous sight and you will not walk ahead without a few pictures in your camera. The trail is pretty even throughout most of your trek and it is a straightforward climb through the dense oak forests.
You will reach the peak in a short time. The magnificent views from this location are spell-binding. You can pay a visit to the Kedarkantha summit temple which is an abode of Lord Ganesha along with Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi. Kedarkantha summit is manifested by a lovely arrangement of stones along with a Trishul pointing towards the sky. Later, you will return to the meadow by afternoon and camp the night.
Day five - Trek from Hargaon Thatch to Sankri – Stay in Hotel
Today morning enjoy the breakfast at your last camp of this enchanting trek. Pack your sacks and while descending from Hargaon to Sankri you will come across view points with savour the views and ahead reach apple orchards. After reach base camp Sankri and today stay at Swargarohini Hotel. Meet new friends and share memorable experiences.
Day six - Ride from Sankri to Dehradun (8 hours – 210 kilometres).
The beautiful views of Sankri will remind you of the glorious heights reached by you during the past two days. You will depart Sankri with a lot of memories. Your pre-arranged vehicle will drive you up to Dehradun. You will be checked into a hotel to freshen up after the long journey.
From here, you may choose to continue on our other on-going treks or start on your journey back home. Our representatives will help you decide and arrange for your further journey.
What to Expect?

A trip graded as a Moderate takes you to high altitude regions - above 3000m / 10,0000 ft and will involve considerable altitude gain 800 ft - 1200ft over the course of the trek. Altitude will have an effect, hence one would need to be careful about Acclimatization. The guide will educate about acclimitization procdure.Moderate treks will have multiple days which involve considerable amount of ascents and descents and would require walking for more than 5 - 6 hours.
There might be a day or two of camping in relatively high altitudes above 4000m / 13,000ft. A typical trek will last around a week to ten days depending on the region and is fro those who have exposure to Himalayan treks, for people who have completed a beginner trek.
Good fitness levels are needed to enjoy these trips.Preparation of your body by doing some fitness actitivies before the trip would help. Prior trekking experience would be an added advantage.

  • 1 pair of Shoes : Carry well broken/used Shoes with good Sole & ankle protection and that will sustain usage during the trek. Avoid wearing new shoes to avoid bite and blisters.

  • 1 Jacket : Early mornings and nights can get really cold.

  • 1 Head lamp / Torch : Keep it handy and use it only required.
  • 1 Personal Medical Kit : Carry few tablets such as crocin, Paracetamol, Band aid, cotton. ORS satchets. Glucose, Volini spray and crape bandage.
  • 1 Medic Kit : always pack a first-aid kit in case things go the other way.
  • 2 Batteries: Carry recharged spare batteries.
  • Gloves : Gloves that will keep your palms warm during extreme cold.
  • 1 Whistle : Whistle for signalling and use in times of distress only.
  • 1 Sun glasses : Carry tested and right one to protect from harsh Sunlight only.
  • Sleeping Bag : At times, there might be extreme cold and the camp beds might not be good enough to give you a good night’s sleep. It is better if you have your own warm sleeping bag.
  • Mobile : Use if for communication only. Check with trek coordinator of network availibility carry BSNL SIM if required.
  • 1 Poly Bags : To carry trash and wet clothes.

Q. What is the suitability clause for this trek?
A. This trekking expedition is definitely suited for a person who is physically fit to walk approximately 5 to 6 kilometres per day without facing any health issues on a normal day. A person suffering from heart ailments, asthma and such similar problems may consult a doctor before registering for this trek. It is suggested that the doctor is aware of the schedule and climatic conditions before approving for participation in the trek.

Q. How can I best prepare myself for the trek?
A. You are advised to exercise and go on daily long walks and jogs for a few weeks before your trek.

Q. What are the expected adversities in climatic conditions during the trip?
A. The temperature can get as cold as -2 degrees in few regions during the night. It basically depends on where you come from. If you are an Indian, you will feel very cold in these places and it is advised that you carry warm clothing and other required supplementary like a high altitude professional jacket along with your other essentials.

Q. What kind of food will be made available?
A. Summiters give plain vegetarian food which is not too heavy and apt for hiking. Pizza hut or Anand Bhavan will not be in the picture nor will hunting be an option. There will be enough to sustain and apt will be served when hungry.

Q. Does mountain water cause harm?
A. No. The mountain water is clean. But if you are skeptical – a mineral water can be bought.

Q. Is there a charger point for my phone during the trek?
A. The end point that you can charge during the trek is at Mana Village but depends if electricity is there during the stay.
